Description:
This trek has "everything". You can get very close to the Tibetan border on this trek. We cross the Renjo La pass for some incredible views of the whole Everest region massif including Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse & Pumori. This is the trek if you want to get away from the majority of tourists for a few days, and you have an interest in the local Sherpa traditions and culture (we'll take advantage of connections we have with the local Sherpas). This option is an alternative to the traditional trek to Everest Base Camp (EBC) on the way up (we'll return the traditional way). This trek will climb past the Sherpa villages of Namche Bazaar and Thame, Marlung, Lungden, then Gokyo Valley and the Ngozumpa Glacier, the largest in the Nepal Himalaya. From Gokyo Ri & Renjo La, we get one of the finest view points of four 8000-metre peaks (Cho Oyu, Everest, Lhotse and Makalu are all visible at once; only other time I have had this view was on my summit day up on Everest!). This is an 80-mile round trip hike (not including day trips or Kala Patar climb). You will gain ~8200’ over 11 days, reaching 17,600’ at EBC. ITINERARY
